Irmãos e Irmãs rogo neste momento ao Pai Celestial que tudo que eu possa falar seja de acordo com a vontade dele e que possa tocar realmente seus corações; é em nome de Cristo Jesus que peço a ele. Amém. O tema do meu discurso é Fé em meio à adversidade. Eu, Josenildo Nascimento Melo, sempre fui um homem em busca do preenchimento do vazio existencial; pra isso, neste sentido mergulhei no mundo acadêmico e dos livros, desde muito cedo. Só que estive por este longo tempo, procurando de forma inadequada e sofri muito por minha fé em meio à adversidade. Por fim, finalmente no dia 13 de novembro de 2022 encontrei a fonte que nunca seca e sacia plenamente a todos nós!.

O que é Fé? Fé é uma palavra que significa "confiança", "crença", "credibilidade”. A palavra fé tem origem no Grego "pistia" que indica a noção de acreditar e no Latim "fides", que remete para uma atitude de fidelidade. No contexto religioso, a fé é uma virtude daqueles que aceitam como verdade absoluta os princípios difundidos por sua religião. Ter fé em Deus é acreditar na sua existência e na sua onisciência. E o que é adversidade? Sorte adversa: catástrofe, fatalidade, calamidade, infortúnio. Contrariedade: contratempo, dissabor, aborrecimento, atribulação, contrariedade, impedimento, obstáculo!

De acordo com o Élder Rafael E. Pino, of the first quorum of the serventy – do primeiro quorum dos setenta - Viver o evangelho (…) significa que estaremos preparados para enfrentar e suportar a adversidade com mais confiança. Que bênção é sermos membros da Igreja de Jesus Cristo Dos Santos Dos Últimos Dias. Estava eu lendo o livro de um excelente teólogo americano quando recebi o telefonema do Bispo Machado dizendo que eu fui o escolhido pra proferir o meu primeiro discurso. A Igreja de Jesus Cristo Dos Santos Dos Últimos Dias é isso; uma surpresa agradável a cada dia pra nós!

Uma das primeiras adversidades da minha vida em meio à minha grande fé foi o fato de não ser compreendido na busca do Sacerdócio. Isso foi duro. Outra adversidade abalável foi a compreensão sobre fatos e acontecimentos de que muitas vezes não somos acolhidos conforme o que ensina Cristo Jesus. Na Igreja De Jesus Cristo Dos Santos Dos Últimos Dias tenho encontrado carinho, amor, compreensão e incentivo necessário para o desenvolvimento de minhas potencialidades. O Servir a Deus e aos Irmãos é uma das grandes marcas da nossa Igreja; A Igreja De Jesus Cristo Dos Santos Dos Últimos Dias.

Meus Irmãos e Irmãs a fé remove montanhas. Nas Sagradas Escrituras temos várias citações sobre isso: Hebreus 11:1 - Ora, a fé é o firme fundamento das coisas que se esperam, e a prova das coisas que não se vêem. Marcos 9:23 - Ao que lhe disse Jesus: Se podes! – tudo é possível ao que crê. Mateus 21:21 - Jesus, porém, respondeu-lhes: Em verdade vos digo que, se tiverdes fé e não duvidardes, não só fareis o que foi feito à figueira, mas até, se a este monte disserdes: Ergue-te e lança-te no mar, isso será feito.

No Livro de Mórmon podemos perceber que Néfi descreveu esse livro sagrado como “a voz de quem clama do pó”. Qual a primeira coisa que hoje faço ao levantar-me? Ler o Livro de Mórmon. Agradeço isso às Sisters Americanas Emillie Nielsen e Miligran

FAITH IN THE MIDDLE OF ADVERSITY

Good morning brothers and sisters. The theme of my speech is Faith in the Midst of Adversity. I, Josenildo Nascimento Melo, have always been a man in search of filling the existential void; for this, in this sense, I immersed myself in the academic and book world, from a very early age. It's just that I've been this long, looking inadequately, and I've suffered a lot for my faith in the midst of adversity. What is Faith? Faith is a word that means "trust", "belief", "credibility". One of the first adversities in my life amid my great faith was the fact that I was not understood in my pursuit of the Priesthood. That was tough. Another shattering adversity was the understanding of facts and events that we are often not welcomed according to what Christ Jesus teaches. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have found affection, love, understanding and encouragement necessary for the development of my potential. Serving God and the Brothers is one of the great hallmarks of our Church; The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints.

My Brothers and Sisters, faith moves mountains. In the Holy Scriptures we have several quotations about this: Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Mark 9:23 - Jesus said to him, If you can! – everything is possible for those who believe. Matthew 21:21 - But Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Arise and cast yourself at sea, it will be done.
